Job Details:
This will be a busy and challenging role and therefore you will have commitment and dedication to providing high quality support to family and staff in line with Ofsted regulations. You will also be required to have excellent safeguarding standards and a strong ethos of providing effective support to families to achieve positive outcomes.
As the Social Work Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager and the Assistant Manager, deputising in their absence. You will have responsibility for staff management and supervision, for the Social Work staff, which will include overall quality assurance of parenting assessments. You will also have responsibility for the progression and quality of all the final parenting assessments, that are submitted to the local authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing and supervising an established social work team alongside the Registered Manager of the Family Centre, quality assuring all reports and overseeing social work practice and decision making.
- To lead the team, sharing social work knowledge and skills in completing holistic and individualised assessments.
- Effective assessment skills relating to work with children and families.
- To liaise with professionals and represent the organisation to prospective referrers including Local Authorities, Solicitors, Guardians and Courts.
- To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the work with families to ensure quality performance in compliance with policies and procedures.
- To assist and support the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager in the day to day running of the centre, this will mean being part of the on-call system.
- Understand, manage and carry out risk assessments.
- To actively promote the Twenty-Four-Seven commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults at a level appropriate to this group.
- To help create and develop a safe, structured, learning environment which is based on the values and standards of Twenty-Four-Seven.
- To look for opportunities to improve existing practices.
- To establish and maintain appropriate liaisons with other professionals.
- To ensure a high standard of Social Work practice.
- To ensure and promote good standard of childcare and general house management.
- To work with the management team to ensure safer recruitment protocols.
- To keep abreast of current legislation, guidance, research and theory and protocols which informs our work.
- To work within the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families.
- Teaching parenting skills and practices.
- To monitor and evaluate the effects of any such intervention on a child’s emotional and physical wellbeing
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements:
- A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- A minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience; and have worked in a children’s social work-related role and /or child social care, such as an Assessment Team or Looked After Children’s Team.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding, assessment, and risk management and established experience of completing parenting capacity and holistic whole family assessments.
- Have a secure knowledge of childcare law, government guidance and current social work theory and research.
- At least 2 years in a role supervising and managing staff.
- Experience of partnership working with families and external agencies.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively in complex or challenging situations with families.
- Have excellent report writing skills, and the ability to effectively manage your own workload.
- You must have experience of quality assuring and overseeing robust assessment and finalising the assessment process, making decisive evidence-based recommendations with the support of the assessment team.
- Ability to work with staff and managers at all levels and communicate clearly and effectively.
- Have an approach that is reflective, professional, and creative.
Preferable Skills and Knowledge:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
- Experience of Parenting Assessment Manual (PAM’s) or Parent Assess approach for assessing parents.
- Practice Educator Program qualification and experience of student placements.
- Experience of Ofsted Inspections and relevant frameworks.

Social Work Assessor (Residential Parenting Assessment)
Pay: From £34,500.00 per year
We are looking for someone with the drive and ambition to offer the best experience to parents and their children when undertaking parenting assessments. You will be a qualified and experienced social worker who is able to work as part of a team to support parents to develop the skills to live independently while ensuring that the needs of babies/children are being promoted and that their safety and wellbeing is being upheld. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience of working within statutory child care work, as well as experience of giving evidence in court, carrying out parenting assessments and experience of multi-agency working.

The purpose of the Social Worker role:
1. To undertake Parenting Assessments on a residential basis, and when required on a day and community basis;
2. To ensure that the needs of babies/children are being promoted and that their safety and wellbeing is being upheld;
3. To work as part of a Team in supporting Parents in developing the skills to parent successfully and live independently;
4. To coordinate placements/assessments and exit plans, as well as detailed plans of work for each family on your caseload.
5. To write reports and attend Court as required, ensuring the contribution of the team is incorporated;
6. To plan and undertake direct work with children and families as required, considering and analysing information to include in reports ad assessments.
7. To organise placement review meetings, and chair and minute the meetings. Attend Lac Reviews, Core Group meetings and CP meetings as required.
8. To liaise with Local Authority Social Workers, Children’s Guardians and solicitors;
9. To liaise with families, other professionals and agencies as required;
10. To support the Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Service;
11. To act as a consultant to other Staff Members;
12. To ensure that the Residential Family Centre regulations and National Minimum Standards and organisational policies and procedures are implemented.
We are looking for:
1. Skills, knowledge, abilities:
1.1 Knowledge and understanding of the Assessment Framework, and the ability to carry out and contribute to complex parenting assessments;
1.2 Knowledge of Parenting skills and strategies, and the abilities to support Parents in delivering these;
1.3 Understanding and knowledge of the needs of Young Parents or Parents-to-be;
1.4 Understanding and knowledge of some of the difficulties that may impair parenting abilities, such as learning difficulties, experience of care, mental health, substance misuse, and abilities to support parents in addressing difficulties.
1.5 Expertise and understanding of child development and attachment theory;
1.6 Expertise and understanding of child protection;
1.7 Effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage, and communicate effectively with Parents and Young children; alongside a kind, epithetic nature.
1.8 Excellent written skills, and presentation in order to present a positive professional image of the organisation;
1.9 Good IT skills and the ability to produce accurate reports and records;
1.10 The ability to undertake research and contribute to the ongoing development of the service;

This will include undertaking sessions with parents and writing detailed records of observations, work undertaken, and reports.
To succeed in the role, you will have a good understanding and knowledge of the skills required for parenting, as well as both child development and child protection.
You’ll be a great communicator who can build relationships with parents, young children, professionals, and those involved in implementing plans for their future.
